Between sky and sand
This is a place of unimaginable, indescribable beauty, with its fine white sand and crystal clear water, perfectly graduated from light to deep blue. The odd broad-leaved paperbark (Melaleuca quinquenervia) dots the shoreline, with its twisting roots and many shades of papery bark.
Like many of K’gari’s treasures, the bush hides this scene. Unassuming signs beckon the visitor to make the walk in search. But for those of us who long to truly know the island’s flora, the beautiful and diverse coastal species make the trail a delight in itself.
Any memories of the lake must surely be intertwined with the experience of its flora on this walk – the sights, the sounds, the smells, the textures, the tastes.
In searching for a name for this artwork, I stumbled across a quote that seemed to perfectly capture what is precious about this place – ‘Serenity is found somewhere between the sky and the sand’. In the case of this special landscape, it is all that is found between the two that makes it not only serene, but also so unique and memorable.
This piece has lovely textures and brings the same positive vibes and energy as a bright and sunny day. It looks wonderful paired with my other Cooloola rounds.
