Quite contrary

$300.00

Capturing both the journey and the destination, this little piece is beautiful in its simplicity. It celebrates another K'gari treasure – Lake Wabby – with its amazing emerald water, contrasted against the sand dunes that are slowly engulfing it.

It is in its many contrasts that this special place finds its magic – with wet and dry, cold and hot, barren and fertile, light and dark – it really is ‘quite contrary’.

The walk in from the beach is very much part of the experience and 'feeling' of Lake Wabby, so it was very important for me to capture a sense of that journey in the artwork. As you meander through the scrub you come across the beautiful yellow flowering natives; the Jacksonia stackhousii and the Fraser Island Dune Daisy; as well as the bracken fern, wattle, and the delicate Whiteroot, with its zig zag stems. It is then a stroll across the hot dunes to reach the cool and mysterious water of Lake Wabby.

40cm round acrylics on board, ready to hang
